Cooperation programme - Ethiopia

Hub Addis

IC Hub Addis Ababa is evolving from a conventional operational office into a strategic regional and continental hub, placing Switzerland at the center of Africa’s multilateral landscape. It connects SDC’s bilateral programs with policy dialogue at the African Union, IGAD, and UNECA, enabling Switzerland to anticipate and influence regional responses to climate shocks, conflict, displacement, and food insecurity.

For SDC, the Hub strengthens the impact of Switzerland’s development and humanitarian instruments by combining field experience with policy instruments and thematic advisory capacity in migration, food systems, and One Health. This integration allows Switzerland to scale local innovations, support continental norm-setting, and align interventions across humanitarian, development, and policy domains.

IC Hub Addis Ababa maximizes Switzerland’s strategic visibility, reinforces Swiss credibility as a partner for African multilateral institutions, and ensures that Swiss expertise translates into coordinated, innovative, and regionally relevant action.

Country Programme Somalia 2026-2029

In addition, IC Addis Ababa contributes to the implementation of the Country Programme Somalia. Geographically, the programme focuses on the Somali context. It covers the semi-arid areas of Ethiopia and Kenya that border Somalia. Emergency aid is provided throughout the region as needed. Thematically, the programme is focusing on peace & governance, human development, and Inclusive & Climate-Resilient Economic Development.
